Nectar Words

I hold

your words,

ancient visuals

from another

continent,

tight

and slide them

down

my

pocket

for later.

I hold

your words,

ancient visuals

from another

              world familiar

                                                                                   close

 and slide them

from

heart

to

pocket

                                                                                    for later.

Like candy

that might

taste

sweet & hot

at the

same time-

                                                                cinnamon

or tart & sweet

from those giant

trees-

                                                                 tamarind

whose canopies

hold up the sky,

fruit pods hanging

heavy

with secret nectars

and rhythms

I won’t

  resist

                                                                  playing.
