Morning Muse #28- Poem

Another Muse
grounded in the shadows
of this urban playground
peers out as I pass- knowing
I won’t see her. She smiles.

Another Muse
grounded in the shadows
of this urban playground
peers out as I pass- knowing
I won’t see her,  she smiles
beautiful defiance
leans flat against cold cement
waits 5 seconds before tossing the gold
can into the street, rolling south
into blooming dandelions.

I turn slowly, to see,
white sparks dance in the air
bright against a corrugated fence
blood-red rust

seeds set free
in the morning sun.

Oh MLK Muse, how I love you and this game you play on Mondays.
